Their brief description is as follows-
1. Enthusiasm- It is necessary to have a state of mind in the form of enthusiasm in order to engage in yoga practice. By starting work with an enthusiastic mind, all the organs get inspired to work in spiritual practice by communication of life force in the body, mind and senses. Therefore, an enthusiastic state of mind is the key to success in yoga practice.
2. Courage- Courage should also be a quality in the path of yoga practice. Courageous seeker can do the sadhna of difficult activities of yoga such as Vastradhauti, Khechri etc. An already fearful seeker cannot move further towards the path of yoga activities.
3. Patience - It is essential for a yoga seeker to have the quality of Patience. If the seeker wants success in meditation very quickly, then such an impatient seeker gets surrounded by obstacles and gets corrupted. The seeker should solve the obstacles of the world or the calamities of the internal level patiently from Gurupadesh.
4. Tatvagyaan- Before walking on the path of yoga, it is necessary that the seeker should acquire the proper knowledge of the path of meditation through the scriptures and Guru's teachings. In the absence of proper knowledge, time will be wasted in meditation and the mind will also be distracted due to various types of obstacles.
5. Determination- Before starting any worldly work, a feeling of determination is necessary. Where there is laxity in determination, there the path will be obstructed. Therefore, before engaging in the path of yoga practice, the feeling of determination is very essential.
6. Abandonment of public relations- In order to avoid the obstacles created at the social and religious level, more public relations should be abandoned. Too much public contact leads to loss of physical and mental energy. More public relations are discarded for yoga-meditation.
The Hindrance Elements of yoga (Yog Ke Baadhak Tatv)
Baadhak Tatv of Yoga according to Hathapradipika.
Excess food, More labor, More speaking, Insistence in following rules, More public contact and Fickleness of mind, these are the six elements that destroy yoga, that is, they hinder progress in the path of yoga.
1. Atyahara- Eating excessive amounts of food consumes the body's digestive fire and various types of digestive diseases like indigestion, constipation, acidity, heartburn, etc. arise. If the seeker spends his energy for digestion instead of putting it in spiritual practice or wastes time in the practice of Shatkarma, Asanas etc. to get rid of digestive diseases, then Yoga practice would have naturally been obstructed.
Therefore it’s said that - The food which is smooth and sweet and which is dedicated to the Supreme Lord, should be eaten to fill 3/4th part of the stomach. And 1/4 part of the stomach should be left for air circulation and smooth digestion. Swatmaram ji gives the name of such quantity based delicious food as Mitaahar.
Eat too much, eat little, sleep too much, be too awake. If someone has this nature, its yoga is not proved.
2. - Prayaas (Effort)-Yoga seeker should avoid excessive physical and mental labor. Excessive physical and mental exertion, along with the growth of Rajasic and Tamasic qualities, also create imbalance in the physical and mental energies present in the body, so the Yoga seeker should avoid over-exertion.
3. Prajlp- Means speaking more, physical time is also destroyed by the practicality of speaking more. Spending time in more speaking (gossip) and increases public relations, and this increase creates negative attitudes like jealousy, hatred, greed, attachment etc. which becomes an obstacle in the path of yoga.
4. Niyamagraha- (Request to rules) According to scriptures or socio-religious beliefs, it is not necessary for a yoga seeker to strictly follow the many rules, for example, if bathing with cold water in the morning is considered necessary for yoga practice, then this rule should not be followed during illness or extreme cold weather. In these circumstances, a little less cold water can also be used. Excessive Niyamagraha may be obstacle in the path of yoga practice.
5. Janasang- (Many public relations)- Excessive public relations also destroys by reducing physical and mental energy. The more people you come into contact with, the more your chatter about the path of yoga will become an obstacle in the path of yoga by little fight the mind and body. It is said that it should be abandoned by the seeker.
6. Chanchalata- (fickleness)- This attitude is also an obstacle in the path of Yoga. The instability of the body becomes a hindrance for long-term spiritual practice. Negative attitudes like jealousy, malice etc. increase the fickleness of the mind and create obstacles in the path of yoga. Irregularity of sadhna like one day he did his sadhna from 4 in the morning and on the second day lazily got up at 7 in the morning. This kind of instability also becomes a hindrance in Yogasaghna.
